InterDigital Slams Disney with $118 Million Patent Lawsuit
InterDigital Inc., a tech and patent licensing company, is taking on Walt Disney Co. over alleged unlicensed use of video technology by the Disney+ streaming service. According to people familiar with the matter, InterDigital is seeking €101.7 million ($118 million) from Disney in compensation.
The claim was filed with the Munich Regional Court earlier this month. This comes after a court ruling in November 2025 that Disney infringed on an InterDigital patent related to streaming video using high-dynamic-range (HDR) technology.
As a result of the infringement, the court granted InterDigital an injunction to stop Disney from using the technology. Now, it seems the company is seeking financial compensation for what it sees as unlicensed use by Disney.
