The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max pre-orders sold out in minutes across China, Japan, and South Korea on September 12. The most sought-after configurations disappeared from major retail channels within a short time frame.
In China, the glacier blue iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in various storage tiers were quickly marked as sold out on Apple's official site, with estimated delivery dates pushed to late September. This scarcity has already begun to reshape the secondary market, with transaction prices for the iPhone 18 Pro Max 256GB in burgundy averaging 12,799 yuan, a jump of 16.4 percent above the official retail price.
In Japan, some configurations of the top-tier Pro Max had their delivery estimates pushed to October 2 within less than ten minutes. The strong early response came even as the iPhone 18 Pro Max 256GB rose to 239,800 yen, an increase of 45,000 yen compared with last fall's equivalent model.
The scarcity has led to a surge in resale prices on secondary market platforms like Dewu in China and Moyo in South Korea. Apple's new flagship phones come with improved hardware features, including a mechanical variable aperture on the main Fusion camera and a redesigned vapor chamber for sustained performance under load.
