IREN Delivers First Horizon 1 Data Center to Microsoft Amidst $9.7 Billion Contract
IREN has successfully delivered its first Horizon 1 AI data center to Microsoft. The delivery, which took place on August 13, 2026, marks a significant milestone in IREN's five-year, $9.7 billion cloud services contract with the tech giant.
The Horizon 1 facility is a 50-megawatt direct-to-chip liquid-cooled deployment located at IREN's Childress, Texas campus. It is the first of four identical facilities scheduled for delivery throughout 2026 under the contract. IREN's vertically integrated model has enabled it to execute complex AI infrastructure projects quickly and efficiently.
The data center has been verified by NVIDIA as meeting stringent performance, reliability, and scalability standards for demanding AI workloads through its Exemplar Cloud program. This achievement underscores IREN's ability to deliver large-scale, specialized AI infrastructure and validates the company's position in a competitive market.
