IRS Website Drops Heavily in Google Search Amid Bot-Blocking Fears
The IRS website has experienced a significant drop in visibility on Google's search results over the past few days, according to Search Engine Roundtable.
The issue appears to be related to bot-blocking measures implemented by the federal government, which have resulted in Google being unable to access certain pages on the IRS website.
SEO experts Lily Ray and Glenn Gabe noticed major issues with pages being removed or downgraded in Google Search, including PDFs dropping out of search results.
Lily Ray posted a chart showing the drop in rankings across numerous keywords, including 'irs tax brackets', which showed the IRS website in a lower position with no description or favicon.
