Ithaca Man Spends Decades Empowering Others Through Education and Community Service

Cal Walker's dedication to empowering others has left an indelible mark on Ithaca, New York. With a career spanning decades, he has made it his mission to help people recognize and maximize their potential.

Walker's journey began when he graduated from college in North Carolina and took a sales position at Procter & Gamble Distributing Co. He chose Ithaca as his home due to its proximity to Cornell University, which offered opportunities for continuing education.

However, graduate school plans did not materialize, but Walker remained in Ithaca, becoming involved in the community through the church and educational advocacy. He spent 15 years as a sales representative with Procter & Gamble and 25 years at Cornell in Student and Academic Services and as an Outreach Liaison to school districts.

A turning point came when Walker was diagnosed with peripheral T-cell lymphoma, which forced him to reevaluate his priorities. After undergoing chemotherapy and a stem-cell transplant, he emerged with a newfound appreciation for life and a strengthened commitment to serving others.
