Jamespot Acquires Email Operator Alinto to Build French Rival to Microsoft 365
Jamespot, a French collaboration and AI platform provider, has acquired Alinto, an email operator that processes over 100 million emails daily for more than 1,000 companies. This deal adds an email layer to Jamespot's existing services, positioning it as a sovereign alternative to Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, with data and infrastructure run in France and Europe.
The acquisition comes at a time when concerns about data sovereignty are on the rise. Email remains a top target for attackers, with 75% of successful attacks over the past 12 months coming through this channel. Additionally, there is growing concern about extraterritorial legislation that can apply to non-European providers.
By using Alinto's own infrastructure, Jamespot aims to limit clients' exposure to such laws. Alinto also runs Sogomail, based on the open-source SOGo technology, which allows code auditing and easier reversibility. This move is seen as a strategic step towards building a sovereign alternative in the collaboration software market.
Philippe Vial-Grelier, CEO of Alinto, stated that joining Jamespot is a natural continuation of their history. Together, they can give email a new dimension within a complete collaborative platform. This acquisition marks Jamespot's ninth since 2014 and highlights the company's efforts to consolidate its position in the market.
