New York Jets safety Andre Cisco has been benched in favor of Dane Belton, who signed a one-year $4 million contract to join the team. According to Nick Faria of the Jets on SI team, Belton is firmly in command of winning the starting job opposite Minkah Fitzpatrick with Belton's physicality, tackling ability, and improved coverage skills catching the eye of New York coaches.

Belton, 25, entered the league as the No. 114 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft and spent his first four years with the Giants before joining the Jets. Despite Cisco coming through with an interception during the Jets' preseason win on Friday, his role seems to be best served as the third safety in the defense.

NFL Insider Matt Lombardo told 'Boy Green Daily' that joint practices are where you can get the most information out of training camp, and Belton has been impressing coaches with his performance. The Jets may use a three-safety look, which would feature Cisco, Fitzpatrick, and Belton on the field at the same time.
