Jets Safety Position Gets Facelift with Fitzpatrick Signing
The New York Jets' safety position received significant attention during the offseason after a brutal season in 2025. The team added top safety Minkah Fitzpatrick via trade and gave him a three-year, $40 million extension.
Fitzpatrick, who is still one of the top safeties in the league at 29 years old, will provide much-needed depth to the secondary. He's also versatile, allowing head coach Aaron Glenn to play him on the line of scrimmage and as a nickel corner.
Andre Cisco returns to the Jets for another year after suffering a season-ending injury in 2025. He'll compete with Malachi Moore for the other starting spot. The early depth charts from Jets beat writers show Cisco as the favorite, but it's still unclear who will take the job.
