JNJ Sets Record for Consecutive Dividend Hikes
Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) has earned its place among the elite Dividend Kings. This exclusive group consists of companies that have increased their dividends annually for at least 50 consecutive years. J&J, however, stands out by having boosted its dividend for a remarkable 64 straight years.
This achievement is all the more impressive when considering that only nine publicly traded stocks can claim a longer streak of rising dividends. In April, J&J declared a 3.1% increase to its quarterly dividend, from $1.30 per share to $1.34. This translates to an annual dividend payment of $5.36 per share.
For shareholders owning $10,000 in JNJ stock at the current price of about $260, this would equate to approximately 38 shares. Consequently, their investment would yield around $204 annually in dividend income. While this might not be a substantial sum, it's essential to consider that J&J offers both growth and income.
Moreover, the company's stock has delivered significant price appreciation over recent years, with a 50% increase over the past 52 weeks and a 26% rise in 2026. This contrasts with the broader market as measured by the S&P 500, which has seen a 21.6% gain over the past year and 13% this year.
