Jodi Benson's 'Witch' Casts a Spell on Orlando Audiences
Disney fans in Orlando were treated to an unforgettable performance of 'Into The Woods' at Steinmetz Hall, featuring Jodi Benson as the Witch. The show was a limited engagement, running only for one weekend with its final performance on August 2nd.
Jodi Benson, who originated the voice of Ariel in Disney's 'The Little Mermaid', completely immersed herself in the role, transforming into a ferocious and intimidating presence on stage. Her gray hair, twisted posture, and growling voice made her unrecognizable from her iconic Disney character.
The cast and crew were also filled with Disney creatives, many of whom currently perform in the parks. The show's music director, Benjamin Rauhala, is a co-creator of 'Disney Princess: The Concert' and worked as a vocal coach on Disney's 'Wish'. Director Kristen Sheola has performed at Walt Disney World.
The production was widely praised for its creativity and talent, with the audience left feeling inspired and thankful for the world of theatre. Despite being a limited engagement, many in attendance would love to see the show again, and the cast and crew deservedly delivered something worthy of a longer run.
