John Joseph Walsh was a man of many talents and pursuits.
He was born on September 24, 1944, in Newark, New Jersey, to Edward J. Walsh and Anna Schultz Walsh.
A standout athlete and scholar, John excelled at Seton Hall Preparatory School and went on to attend the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where he graduated magna cum laude.
He received his master's degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University and held executive positions at IBM, AT&T, and Compression Labs Inc. (CLI), a pioneering video compression company that traded on NASDAQ.
