Johnson & Johnson MedTech Reset Targets Faster Execution and Growth
Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) is resetting its MedTech business to focus on faster execution, a narrower portfolio, and new growth drivers. According to Tim Schmid, worldwide chairman of the unit, MedTech has been tracking at the high end of its 5-7% operational growth range from 2022 through mid-2026.
The company is shifting towards business units, speeding decisions and improving accountability with a structure that brings decision-making closer to customers. Cardiovascular has become the largest and fastest-growing MedTech business, driven by acquisitions, product development, and expansion into high-growth areas.
J&J plans to separate its orthopedics business in mid-2027, focusing capital on cardiovascular, surgery, and vision. Management expects 2027 to be stronger than 2026, supported by new products, evidence generation, and a broader portfolio reset.
