JPMorgan Awaits Interest Rate Decision Amid Strong Earnings

JPMorgan is set for an eventful week ahead of the Fed's interest rate decision on September 15-16. The bank has reported strong quarterly results, with net income of $21.2 billion and $7.70 of reported EPS in Q2. However, after adjusting for one-time gains, JPMorgan's adjusted earnings were more like $16.9 billion or $6.14 per share.

The bank's capital markets momentum remains a major advantage, with fees for investment banking up 30% compared to last year and Markets revenue increasing by 35%. Equity Markets revenue rose by 86%, and JPMorgan continued to hold the top position in global investment-banking fees.

Net interest income could benefit from higher rates, as JPMorgan has revised their estimates upward for FY2026 after the second quarter. However, a rapid movement in yields creates chaos in deal making, which is a risk that investors should be aware of.
