JPMorgan Banker Tied to Epstein Embroiled in FIFA Scandal
JPMorgan Chase's top banker, Mary Erdoes, is at the center of a scandal surrounding her past links to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. The FIFA Forward Enterprise plan, led by Erdoes and aimed at selling a 20% stake in FIFA's commercial business, has been abandoned after international pressure.
The Telegraph revealed that Erdoes remained in regular contact with Epstein over banking matters for years, even sending him a personal birthday greeting in 2012, four years after his conviction for procuring a minor for prostitution. JPMorgan ended its client affiliation with Epstein in 2013, six years before his arrest.
The FIFA stake sale proposal was an ambitious project backed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino, but it faced widespread anger and criticism from global football governing bodies, including UEFA, CONCACAF, and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
