JPMorgan Bolsters Canadian Presence with Senior Hire
JPMorgan Chase is expanding its presence in Canada by hiring Chris Finora to lead its Canadian Cash Equities Trading franchise. Finora, who has over 27 years of experience at TD Securities and two years at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), will join JPMorgan in Toronto this month.
This move reflects the bank's growing confidence in Prime Minister Mark Carney's government, which aims to attract $1 trillion in investment over the next five years. The bank believes that inbound Canadian investment will accelerate over the next decade and wants to be better positioned to capture these flows in both private and public markets.
JPMorgan established its Canadian equities team about eight years ago following regulatory changes, and now it's expanding through senior hires, additional capital, and a likely expansion of its research team. The bank has brought on 18 executives and managing directors in Canada over the past year, raising its director headcount in the country by 20%.
Canada CEO David Rawlings said that JPMorgan wants to be better positioned to capture these flows in both private and public markets, reflecting the bank's growing confidence in Prime Minister Mark Carney's government.
