JPMorgan CEO Dimon Urges Industry Leaders to Join AI Risk Group
JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon is urging corporate leaders to join an industry group focused on managing artificial intelligence risks. The initiative, led by the Alliance for Critical Infrastructure (ACI), aims to develop a shared understanding of AI's impact and establish cooperation with the government. More than 40 companies from various sectors have been contacted to participate in the effort.
Dimon has personally reached out to executives at major banks and technology companies, including those involved in critical infrastructure like energy and water systems. The ACI was founded by JPMorgan, Mastercard, Berkshire Hathaway Energy, and others to coordinate cross-industry resilience planning and information-sharing. Dimon's views on the economy and regulation are closely watched, as he has been warning about the risks posed by advanced AI systems.
The group plans to become fully operational by the end of the year and will focus on identifying main AI risks and helping address them through a platform for information-sharing across industries and communication with the government. The US government has stepped up coordination with industry to manage AI risks, launching the Gold Eagle initiative in July to bring together AI developers, critical infrastructure operators, and federal agencies.
