JPMorgan Chase Sued Over Alleged Mishandling of $12,000 Transaction Dispute
A Pennsylvania man has filed a federal lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase, claiming that the bank mishandled a $12,000 transaction dispute. Jim Serena, of Lower Burrell, said he assisted a friend with expenses for his children, home, and other needs by receiving payments via Zelle.
The issue began in October when Serena's friend reported nearly $12,000 missing from his Chase bank account. The bank froze Serena's account as part of its investigation and later credited the money back to his friend, but not before closing Serena's account and charging him over $11,000 negative.
Despite submitting several forms to Chase, Serena said his account was closed and charged off. He has filed a federal lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase, seeking around $900,000 in damages, although he claims the case is not about the money but rather what is right and wrong.
