JPMorgan Chase Vows $750 Billion Housing Investment Through 2035
JPMorgan Chase has announced a significant investment in the US housing market. The banking giant plans to spend $750 billion over the next decade, from 2025 to 2035, on housing supply and supporting homeownership. This is part of CEO Jamie Dimon's American Dream Initiative, which targets investments in local communities across the US.
The initiative aims to build or preserve one million affordable housing units and provide financing assistance to 500,000 homebuyers. The US housing industry is currently facing a severe shortage, with estimates suggesting up to 4.7 million homes are needed. Rising home prices and borrowing rates have made affordability near an all-time low.
JPMorgan Chase is already the largest home lender among its bank peers, according to Bloomberg. The planned investment will increase its mortgage lending by 40% and hire 850 new home lending advisors.
