JPMorgan Considers Launching Its Own Stablecoin Amid Growing Interest in Digital Currencies
JPMorgan Chase is considering launching its own stablecoin, according to recent discussions. The potential initiative would build on the bank's existing digital-asset infrastructure, including its Kinexys blockchain and JPM Coin tokenized deposit.
The development comes as several major financial institutions explore digital currencies, with more than a dozen banks advancing plans for a global stablecoin consortium.
JPMorgan already has experience using blockchain technology within institutional financial services through its Kinexys platform and JPM Coin. A potential separate stablecoin would represent an expansion of the bank's digital-currency activities rather than a replacement of JPM Coin.
