JPMorgan Doubles Down on S&P 500 Target to 8,000 Amid AI Profit Uptick
JPMorgan Chase has upgraded its year-end target for the S&P 500 to 8,000 points, citing strong second-quarter corporate earnings and a shift in how companies are monetizing artificial intelligence.
The bank's global head of markets strategy, Dubravko Lakos-Bujas, noted that investors are no longer rewarding companies solely for buying AI hardware, but rather seeing the conversion of massive order backlogs into tangible, audited revenue.
Robust corporate earnings have defied expectations, with nearly 87 percent of S&P 500 companies having reported their second-quarter financial results. JPMorgan has correspondingly upwardly revised its Earnings Per Share (EPS) forecasts for the index's constituent companies to $365 in 2026 and $420 in 2027.
