JPMorgan Dumps Polymarket Over Regulatory Worries
JPMorgan Chase ended its banking relationship with Polymarket in October 2025 due to regulatory concerns. The prediction market platform had previously been fined $1.4 million by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for operating an unregistered derivatives venue and was barred from serving U.S. users.
However, under the Trump administration, Polymarket re-entered the U.S. market in late 2025, a development that likely raised red flags for JPMorgan's compliance team. The bank notified Polymarket of its decision to terminate banking services, but has since signaled openness to underwriting a potential initial public offering (IPO) for the platform.
Despite losing its banking relationship with JPMorgan, Polymarket managed to secure alternative arrangements and maintain operations without visible disruption. This suggests that the platform has options and is not heavily reliant on any single lender.
