JPMorgan Executive Jes Staley Shared Confidential Info with Jeffrey Epstein

JPMorgan executive Jes Staley shared confidential information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to a transcript released by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

The committee is investigating Epstein's relationships with prominent figures, including his associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Staley appeared before the committee in a closed-door interview on July 24 as part of its investigation.

Staley told lawmakers that he shared information about JPMorgan's communications with the Federal Reserve during the 2008 financial crisis, $44 billion in private bank inflows over a two-week period, and his own compensation. He acknowledged sharing other confidential information about the bank.

When questioned by lawmakers, Staley defended the disclosures, saying he believed he had the authority to share information when he considered it appropriate. He maintained that he was unaware of Epstein's crimes and only knew him as a client of the bank.
