JPMorgan Signals Openness to Stablecoin Launch Amid Market Shift
JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the United States, has signaled its openness to launching a stablecoin in the future. A company spokesperson stated that while there are no active plans underway, the bank will evaluate all options in response to customer demand and regulatory developments.
The bank already operates JPM Coin, a digital deposit token introduced in November 2025 for institutional clients. This token enables large-scale transactions using blockchain technology, differing from stablecoins which are typically backed by assets like the US dollar or government bonds.
Major banks in the United States are reevaluating their stance on stablecoins, considering launching their own products to participate in a market expected to process up to $1.5 quadrillion annually by 2035. JPMorgan noted that stablecoins have become essential due to their efficiency in enabling rapid money transfers.
