JPMorgan Surges 41% on Strong Deposit Growth
JPMorgan Chase & Co. reported a 41% surge in net income to $21.2 billion for Q2 2026, exceeding analyst expectations. The firm generated revenue of $58.02 billion for the period, surpassing projected figures of $50.19 billion.
The increase was driven by a 4% rise in net interest income and a 59% jump in noninterest revenue. JPMorgan's adjusted earnings per share of $6.14 beat analyst estimates of $5.79. The firm also reported a 3% increase in Consumer & Community Banking net income to $5.3 billion.
CFO Jeremy Barnum attributed the outlook boost primarily to stronger deposit balances across consumer and wholesale businesses, noting that deposit growth rather than rate changes was the main factor. JPMorgan executives said market conditions remain highly supportive even after a record quarter, with Barnum describing the current backdrop as 'extremely risk on.'
