JPMorgan Weighs Launching Its Own Stablecoin Amid Digital Dollar Momentum
JPMorgan Chase is exploring the possibility of issuing its own stablecoin, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The bank's spokesperson stated that there are currently no plans to issue one, but they would 'consider all options in the future' depending on customer demand and regulatory changes.
The review remains in its early stages with no formal productization or launch timeline established. However, this signals JPMorgan's entry into the digital dollar space, which continues to blur the boundary between traditional finance and crypto assets.
JPMorgan already offers tokenized deposits called 'JPM Coin' for institutional investors, but a stablecoin would circulate on public blockchains and be widely used for trading and payments. If issued, it would become an alternative to established major stablecoins like Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC.
