JPMorganChase Pledges $750 Billion for Affordable Housing Over Next Decade
JPMorganChase has expanded its American Dream Initiative, pledging $750 billion over the next 10 years to affordable housing, homeownership opportunities, and housing policy research. The bank's goal is to support the development and preservation of 1 million affordable housing units, alongside expanding loan products and policy development.
The initiative represents a significant increase from the first phase, with a 40 percent boost in budget, aiming to fund 1 million housing units and help 500,000 homebuyers. JPMorganChase said it will finance the development or preservation of mid-tier and workforce units for households earning 120 percent of the area median income (AMI).
The bank plans to increase homeownership opportunities for 500,000 customers, including 200,000 first-time homebuyers, by hiring 850 new Home Lending Advisors. JPMorganChase is also considering launching loan options for modular and manufactured homes and supporting down payment assistance organizations.
