JPMorganChase Unveils $750 Billion Affordable Housing Push
JPMorganChase has made a significant commitment to increasing affordable housing and homeownership opportunities in the United States. The financial services firm plans to deploy over $750 billion through 2035, which is a nearly 40% increase in its housing capital investment compared to the prior decade.
This effort is part of the company's American Dream Initiative, a multi-year program aimed at expanding opportunity to millions of Americans through targeted investments in local communities. According to Michelle Herrick, head of commercial real estate for J.P. Morgan, an affordable and resilient housing market is essential to driving economic growth and increasing opportunity.
The company plans to expand its tools such as debt, equity, and grant programs to build or preserve housing in partnership with developers, owners, nonprofits, and governments. It aims to target 1 million affordable units that would serve residents earning no more than 120% of the area median income.
