JPMorgan's Asia Pacific Corporate Banking Booms, Hiring to Continue
JPMorgan Chase is expanding its corporate banking team in Asia Pacific at a rapid pace. The US bank's revenue from corporate banking in the region has grown by more than 20% this year, and it plans to continue hiring at a similar rate next year.
The bank's regional heads, Oliver Brinkmann and Kerwin Clayton, said that they are seeing strong growth across various sectors, including mid-sized and large companies, the innovation economy, financial institutions, and non-bank financial institutions. They added that the hiring will cover teams serving these areas.
JPMorgan's corporate banking business in Asia Pacific has been driven by Asian companies expanding abroad and rising investment in artificial intelligence, data centers, and supply chains. Markets such as Taiwan, South Korea, China, and Australia have exceeded a 20% growth rate, while Southeast Asia is growing at more than 20%, with Malaysia benefiting from foreign investment linked to AI and data centers.
The bank is also putting more capital into trade finance and working capital finance, which helps companies pay for goods moving across borders, as trade within Asia increases. JPMorgan's growth in Asia Pacific is expected to continue next year, with the bank aiming to maintain its current hiring pace.
