JPMorgan's Dimon Sounds Alarm on High Leverage in Global Markets
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon warned of elevated leverage in global financial markets, citing high levels of margin debt and hidden borrowing. He noted that investors should be mindful of the potential for market disruptions due to excessive leverage.
Dimon pointed out that margin debt is at an all-time high, and some of this borrowed money is not visible because it's called by other names. He emphasized that even a single investor or fund can trigger broad volatility with their trading activities.
The JPMorgan CEO also highlighted the risks of remilitarization of the world, which he believes could reignite inflationary pressures due to rising government deficits and global rearmament.
