JPMorgan's Staley Shared Confidential Bank Info with Epstein
JPMorgan Chase executive Jes Staley shared confidential bank information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to transcripts released by the U.S. Congress House Oversight Committee.
The information shared included market-sensitive data during the 2008 financial crisis, a $44 billion figure in private bank inflows over two weeks, and details of pending deals.
Staley defended the exchanges, saying he believed he had the authority to share information when he considered it appropriate. He has maintained that he was unaware of Epstein's crimes, despite having a close professional relationship with him.
The admissions come as lawmakers probe Epstein's ties with political and business elites, including U.S. President Donald Trump.
