JSU Educator Tapped as Google Certified Innovator to Revolutionize AI in Education

Andrea Taylor, an Alabama Technology in Motion specialist at Jacksonville State University's College of Education and Professional Studies, has been selected as a Google Certified Innovator. This prestigious honor recognizes her efforts to develop innovative solutions for educators and students.

Taylor was one of 35 educators from around the world invited to participate in Google's Innovation Academy, an intensive program centered on design thinking and problem-solving. Her work focuses on incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into education without replacing students' own thinking and work.

As part of her project, Taylor is developing the Multimodal Outline Builder (MOB), a platform that helps students organize their ideas and start writing while maintaining ownership of their work. MOB analyzes student submissions and produces customized outline options for drafting in Google documents.

Taylor's experience as a Google Certified Innovator has also influenced her approach to professional development for educators, incorporating design thinking principles into training sessions. She sees opportunities for collaboration between students and educators to solve real-world problems within their schools and communities.
