Judge Rejects Breakup of Google's Digital Ads Business
A US federal judge has ordered Google to retool its digital ads business, rejecting a proposal from the Justice Department to break up the company.
U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema's decision marks the second time this year that Google has been granted relief from a proposed breakup by the government.
The ruling comes after a 2023 antitrust lawsuit led to an illegal monopoly judgment against Google, with estimates suggesting its ad technology handles 55 million requests per second.
Critics of Big Tech have condemned the decision, arguing that it sends the wrong message at the wrong time and allows Google to continue manipulating algorithms to maintain its monopolies.
