Judge Rejects Plan to Split Google's Ad Tech Business
A federal judge has denied a request to split Google's advertising technology business, providing the tech giant with a reprieve from further regulatory pressure.
U.S. District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema ruled against the government's proposal to divest parts of the business or open up certain platforms, instead opting for 'behavioral remedies' which will be kept confidential for two weeks.
The decision comes as part of ongoing scrutiny into Google's dominance in the online advertising market, with the company's parent company Alphabet Inc. generating nearly 90% of its revenue from Google services, predominantly through advertising sales.
