On Monday afternoon around 1:50 p.m., police in Michigan City responded to reports of a juvenile struggling in Lake Michigan near the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Shawmut Drive. Despite efforts from first responders, the child ultimately succumbed to their injuries.

A proposal is also underway to expand a tax increment financing district in St. Joseph County to include the Granger Microsoft data center. While some residents support the plan as a boon for economic development, others are opposed, arguing that it could divert funds away from other areas of the county.

Additionally, JC's Coal Oven Pizza Co. in Granger was forced to close temporarily due to an unexpected water main issue, and four individuals were arrested after police discovered methamphetamine in a home in Dowagiac on Monday night.
