Kalshi Eyes US Market with Regulated Perpetual Futures on Tesla, Apple, and Nvidia
Kalshi is planning to expand its regulated perpetual futures into the US market by offering leveraged bets on individual stocks, including Tesla (TSLA), Apple (AAPL), and Nvidia (NVDA). The company aims to launch around 60 perpetual contracts tied to major stocks and exchange-traded funds, with a minimum market value of $100 billion.
Unlike traditional futures, perpetual futures do not expire and can provide continuous leveraged exposure. This means that traders can take positions on these stocks at any time, amplifying both potential gains and losses.
Kalshi has already gained approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for its Bitcoin perpetual future, KalshiEX. The company is also expanding its offerings to include 24/7 gold and silver perpetuals with leverage of up to 15 times.
However, single-stock perps face an additional regulatory hurdle, requiring joint approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and CFTC. Critics warn that leverage can accelerate losses, especially among individual investors who may not fully understand the risks involved.
