Kamiya Still Eager to Revive Canceled Scalebound Project
Hideki Kamiya, renowned for his work on DMC and Bayonetta, still hopes to revive Scalebound nearly a decade after its cancellation by Microsoft. In an interview with VGC, Kamiya expressed interest in bringing back the action-RPG, citing it as a passion project.
Kamiya has mentioned reviving Scalebound multiple times since its cancellation in 2026, including in 2020, 2022, and 2025. He claims that new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma could revive the project if she wanted to, with Kamiya stating that he would be willing to return to work on it.
Kamiya's desire to see Scalebound come to life seems unrelenting, despite Microsoft owning the defunct IP. When asked about reviving the game, Kamiya emphasized his commitment to making it happen, saying 'if you want something strongly enough, you eventually find a way to make it happen.'
Kamiya also drew parallels between Scalebound and Okami, another project that was revived after years of dormancy. He expressed hope that Scalebound would follow the same path.
