Kenyan Families to Receive $87 Million in Boeing Crash Compensation

Thirty-two Kenyan families who lost loved ones in the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crash are set to receive a combined $87.34 million in compensation payments from Boeing's settlement with the United States Department of Justice.

The payments are part of a broader settlement that totals approximately $944.5 million, allocated under two U.S. Department of Justice resolutions involving Boeing over the crashes of its 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

The first crash occurred on October 29, 2018, shortly after take-off from Jakarta, Indonesia, killing all 189 people on board. Five months later, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crashed in Addis Ababa, killing all 157 people on board, including dozens of Kenyan nationals.
