Kern County Crude Oil Hub at Heart of California's Energy Future
Chevron's Vice President of San Joaquin Valley, Michelle Burkett, spoke during Energy Week about Kern County's role in California's energy future. She emphasized the importance of a predictable permitting environment to encourage investment and economic activity in the region.
Burkett noted that recent progress in energy permitting in Kern County has been encouraging for both the industry and the local economy. With greater certainty, investors can make long-term decisions with confidence, knowing projects can move forward.
The county produces approximately 70% of California's in-state crude oil, making it a significant player in the state's energy industry. Burkett highlighted Kern County's extensive experience in developing and producing energy, including over a century of infrastructure development, innovative technologies, and skilled workforce.
