Kilkenny McDonald's Closes Due to Fire-Related Power Outage
A fire broke out in an electrical box near a Kilkenny estate on Sunday afternoon, forcing McDonald's to temporarily close its doors due to a power outage.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:30pm when an ESB substation caught fire outside the nearby Hebron Road. As a result, the restaurant and traffic access from the Hebron Roundabout towards the Hebron Road were closed for several hours.
A spokesperson for the Kilkenny Fire Service stated that 'The fire was quickly extinguished following the arrival of the ESB crew members.'
McDonald's has since re-opened for business, with a generator in operation and the ESB working to repair the damage. However, the cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
