Kitchen design is evolving to prioritize functionality and personality over mere aesthetics.

Jamie Janson, owner of Curated Kitchen Co., notes that homeowners are no longer looking for 'beautiful spaces that simply photograph well.'

Instead, they want kitchens that work harder, feel warmer, and reflect their individuality.

The shift is evident in the increasing popularity of color-rich palettes. Janson reports that clients are requesting softer, more expressive shades, such as Sherwin-Williams Fog and Upward, as well as terracotta tones.

White cabinetry is not disappearing entirely, but warmer whites like Alabaster are gaining traction over stark, bright whites.

In terms of materials, natural stone is making a comeback, with many homeowners opting for marble and quartzite over quartz countertops. This trend extends to full-height backsplashes, which create a dramatic effect by extending the same stone up the wall.
