Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has allocated expanded production capacity for its Spartan J85 turbojet engines to support Boeing's Joint Direct Attack Munition Long Range (JDAM LR) production program.

The allocation comes after the U.S. Air Force awarded Boeing a $75 million undefinitized contract action to begin buying the JDAM LR, which can travel over 300 nautical miles.

Kratos is the sole disclosed engine source for the munition and has already begun ordering long-lead components for a large Spartan production run in 2027.
