KRISS Targets IBM-Level Quantum Computer Performance by 2032
KRISS, the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, aims to develop a quantum computer that surpasses IBM's performance by 2032. Currently, KRISS's quantum computer is at the level of IBM's from 2-3 years ago.
The institute plans to complete the development of a 50-qubit superconducting quantum computer in March 2027 and conduct a service demonstration by the end of this year.
KRISS Deputy President Park Yeon-gyu stated that they will catch up with IBM and take the lead in global quantum science by 2032, when the Quantum Science and Technology Flagship Project concludes.
