A KSRTC Super Fast bus that operated between Kannur and Munnar as part of the state's budget tourism services earned only ₹355 in revenue despite covering approximately 397 kilometres, with just three passengers travelling on the service.

The bus was sent from the Munnar depot to Kannur during the Onam season to meet the heavy rush of passengers reported in Kannur district. After the holiday period ended, a driver and conductor were dispatched to bring the bus back to its home depot.

The return journey was expected to generate more revenue due to increased passenger demand, but officials were surprised to find that only ₹355 was collected. The low earnings failed to cover the basic cost of diesel for the trip.

KSRTC has launched a comprehensive investigation into the service, which will examine the procedures followed in approving the service and assessing passenger demand on the route.
