A Lagos court has ordered the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to hold fresh elections for its Chevron Branch within 30 days.

The ruling comes after seven members of the branch filed a lawsuit against PENGASSAN, alleging that the union's central working committee had dissolved the executive committees without following due process.

The claimants argued that the dissolution was unconstitutional and breached the provisions of the PENGASSAN Constitution. They also challenged the revocation of the Chevron Branch bye-laws and the election guidelines issued by the national secretariat.
