Google Maps has updated its maps to reflect President Donald Trump's executive order changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America. The change is only visible to users in the United States, while those in Canada and other countries will still see the original name.

The update was announced by Google on Saturday, two days after Trump signed the executive order. According to Google, this change follows its policy for bodies of water with names that vary from country to country.

Trump's executive order cited America's long history with and investment in Lake Ontario as justification for the name change. However, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney pushed back against the decision, stating that the name 'Lake Ontario' has been used for over 400 years and predates both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States.

The executive order does not affect how other countries refer to geographic areas.
