Born on September 14th, 1951, in Bessemer, Alabama, Jean lived with an Atrial Septal Defect her entire life. Despite the challenges it posed, she underwent successful open heart surgery in 1970 to correct the defect after graduating from McAdory High School.

Jean was a free spirit who loved life's simple pleasures: mountain trips, beach trips, concerts, thrift stores, Mexican food, Southern comfort food, her morning coffee, sunrises, and country music.
