Legacy Tools Linger in Windows 11

Windows 11 may look sleek and modern, but it still carries some legacy tools from its Windows 7 era. Pankil, a freelance writer and long-time Windows user, notes that these tools are largely pointless and could be removed without significant consequences.

The old Media Player app is one such example. Although the new Media Player app is available in Windows 11, typing 'wmplayer' in the search menu still brings up the older version. This is likely due to compatibility issues with certain file formats and codecs, but it would be less confusing if Microsoft had integrated this functionality into the new player or removed the old one altogether.

Another tool that Pankil highlights as unnecessary is Credential Manager, which stores usernames and passwords locally on a PC. However, it lacks syncing capabilities across devices, making dedicated third-party password managers like Bitwarden or Proton Pass more practical choices.
