LG and Nvidia Join Forces to Lead Physical AI Revolution
LG Group and Nvidia are teaming up to dominate the emerging physical AI market. The companies plan to combine Nvidia's software expertise with LG's strength in hardware, focusing on robotics, AI factories, and mobility. The partnership will initially focus on three areas: robotics, AI factories, and mobility.
The companies plan to unveil a next-generation bipedal humanoid robot in the first quarter of next year, using Nvidia's general-purpose AI model Isaac GR00T as its foundation. Nvidia will handle computing and control through its Jetson Thor robotics chip, while LG will provide the hardware, drawing on actuators from LG Electronics, sensors from LG Innotek, and batteries from LG Energy Solution.
The companies also plan to establish a joint task force to speed up research and development, field testing, and commercialization. They aim to build an initial AI factory in the first half of 2027 to test and validate the technology, followed by an 80-megawatt large-scale AI factory in Cheonan, South Chungcheong province, in the first half of 2028.
LG Chairman Koo Kwang-mo said that the partnership was gaining momentum and that the companies' priorities in AI factories, physical AI, and mobility were becoming clearer. 'We will accelerate the adoption of AI by building industry-leading reference projects,' he said.
