Libertarian Org Backs Google Against Canadian's Antitrust Lawsuit
The Washington Legal Foundation has filed an amicus brief with the Ninth Circuit in support of Google, urging the court not to allow a Canadian man's lawsuit against the company to proceed. The lawsuit is related to Epic Games' antitrust case and alleges that Google's Play Store policies unfairly impact prices paid by Android users in Canada.
The Washington Legal Foundation argued that the California federal judge who initially dismissed the case correctly determined that Google's policies are too disconnected from prices paid by Canadian Android users. The brief states that allowing the case to proceed could set a 'perilous precedent' and lead to further lawsuits against Google and other companies.
The lawsuit in question is an attempt to revive Epic Games' antitrust case, which alleged that Apple's App Store policies were anti-competitive. The Washington Legal Foundation's brief was filed on August 26, 2026.
