Linux Users Rejoice: Microsoft 365 Now Runs on Linux

Mirko Brombin, the creator of Bottles, has successfully run Microsoft 365 on Linux. He achieved this using an unreleased version of Soda and Bottles 67.4. The setup allows for login with existing credentials, launch of MS Word, and functionality of OneDrive integration.

The memory footprint of the office suite was less than 500MB, making it light on the system. However, users will have to wait as the full implementation is not yet available. The unreleased version of Soda 11.0-11 is required for this setup, but it has no release date yet.

This achievement is significant as it could help draw people into Linux who were previously hesitant due to the lack of a native Microsoft Office suite on the platform. Currently, there's no official Linux desktop build of Microsoft 365, and CodeWeavers' CrossOver database lists it as 'Installs, Will Not Run.'
